Jane Sherman served in the past as the Chair of the Board of the UIA.  She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, of which she is a former Vice President. She currently serves on its Alliance for Jewish Education and its Israel Emergency Campaign committee. She was previously President and Campaign Chair of its Women's Division and was the first woman to serve as General Campaign Chair in Detroit.

She was the first chairman of the UJA's Young Women's Leadership Cabinet. She also served as chair of Project Renewal for UJA and well as President of the Israel Education Fund and Chair of the Endowment Committee.

Jane Sherman serves of the Board of Directors of Melitz Institute and Beit Hatefutsoth - Museum of the Diaspora.

Jane has been a member of the Jewish Agency's Board of Governors since 1983 and from 2012 serves as Honorary Member. She previously chaired the Youth Aliyah Committee and the Rural and Urban Development Committee. She served as Co-Chair of the Israel Committee for many years.
