Chairman of the Jewish Agency: "I am proud that a person of such high stature as Prof. Borovich is joining the ranks of the Jewish Agency subsidiaries"
After consulting with the incoming mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barkat, Chairman of the Jewish Agency, Zeev Bielski, has appointed Professor Israel ("Izzy") Borovich as chairman of the board of directors of the International Convention Center Jerusalem -- Binyaney Ha'Ooma, owned jointly by the Jewish Agency and the municipality of Jerusalem.
The appointment is effective as of January 1 2009 when Borovich will take the place of Amos Mar-Haim who has been serving as acting chairman since 2005.
Prof. Izzy Borovich has held a number of high-level positions in Israel in the private as well as the public sector. In his last position he served as chairman of the board of El Al Israel Airlines. Before that he served as CEO of Arkia Airlines and chairman of the board of the Sonol company.
Prof. Borovich is a professor of computers and information systems at the Faculty of Management, Tel Aviv University and a member of the board of directors of the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya and chairman of the board of Ayalon Highways Co.
Prof. Borovich has a masters degree in industrial engineering and a doctorate in operations research.
Chairman of the Jewish Agency Zeev Bielski welcomed the readiness of Izzy Borovich to serve as the chairman of the board of the International Convention Center – Binyaney Ha'Ooma and said that with his reputation for talent, knowledge and experience in managing complex organizations and institutions there is no doubt that he will make a significant contribution to Binyanei Ha'Ooma. "I am proud that a person of such high stature as Prof. Borovich is joining the ranks of the Jewish Agency. Izzy Borovich has joined a long list of people who have been chosen in recent years to head Jewish Agency subsidiaries and who are ready to contribute their experience and talents for the benefit of the organization", Bielski said.
