This is a remarkable season in Israel and a wonderful time to celebrate Israel wherever you are in the world. Between Passover and Shavuot, we count the days and we also mark special days – like Holocaust Remembrance Day, Israel's Memorial Day for Fallen Soldiers and Israel's Independence Day.

The Jewish Agency, in partnership with Israel's Office of the President, has uploaded English-subtitled footage from the official Israel Independence Day event, held at the President of Israel's residence. The cheerful, but poignant, ceremony includes Israel's top government officials and military leaders - the President, Prime Minister and Defense Minister - serenading the audience with renditions of their favorite songs. |

Each year, thousands of young Jewish adults - Masa participants from around the world - gather at one Israel's most hallowed military grounds to experience Yom HaZikaron, while The Jewish Agency holds a smaller ceremony at its Jerusalem campus for staff and representatives of organized Diaspora Jewry. This year, in Jerusalem, Eva Sandler - who lost her husband and two children in the Toulouse shooting and whose courage has touched the Jewish world - joined The Jewish Agency's Chairman of the Executive, Natan Sharansky, in lighting the memorial torch. |

When young Jews from the former Soviet Union attend a Jewish Agency overnight camp followed by a visit to Israel, they often experience a new, overpowering sense of connectedness. So invigorating is this feeling of belonging that many - like 18-year-old Boris - soon return to Israel and find themselves on campuses throughout country, learning Hebrew and preparing to make Aliyah. |

Boasting a major university, Beersheba is regarded as one of Israel's hippest cities. But such youth-infused trendiness has not brought true prosperity to the Negev region, which remains one of Israel's most socioeconomically challenged. University students come and go. But for the permanent residents, unemployment, poverty and underperforming grade schools remain. Now, a group of young graduates are there to stay. Empowered by The Jewish Agency, these Young Communities are becoming catalysts for social change. |
